Mill City Triathlon Race Information

EVENTS

OLYMPIC: This race will consist of an out and back swim in the Merrimack River, a 22 mile 2 loop bike course, and a 6.2 mile (10K) 2 loop run course.
SPRINT: This race will consist of a .25 mile swim in the Merrimack River, an 11 mile one loop bike course, and a 3.1 mile (5K) one loop run course.
AQUABIKE (Olympic Distance): Athletes will complete the Olympic distance swim and bike course. There will not be an aquabike option for the sprint race.
RELAY (Olympic & Sprint Distances): Relay teams will consist of 3 athletes and will complete in either the Olympic or Sprint distance course.

PACKET PICKUP

Packet pickup will be available on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Rynne Beach at 160 Pawtucket Boulevard. Packet pickup will also be available race day from 5:00 AM – 6:30 AM. Registration will be available on site Saturday and on race day. Only cash and credit cards will be accepted for payment. (no checks)

5:00 AM Transition Area Opens
5:00 AM – 6:30 AM Packet Pickup
6:50 AM Mandatory Pre-Race Meeting on the beach
7:00 AM Olympic Race including Relay Teams and Aquabike Begins (Swim waves TBD)
7:10 AM Sprint Race Begins (Swim Waves TBD)
9:00 AM Sprint Awards (Approx)
10:30 AM Olympic Awards  (Approx)

TRANSITION AREA

The ONLY people allowed in the transition area will be athletes with numbers written on their bodies. Anyone who needs work on their bike must take their bike out of the transition area. The Transition Area will be closed at 6:45AM. No exceptions. Each participant will get a race number which will designate their space in the transition area. Please be courteous to others as there is limited space. Once the race starts there will be a strictly enforced entrance and exit. This is for the safety of all participants. You will NOT be allowed to mount your bicycle until you are safely out of the transition area.

DIRECTIONS & PARKING

Parking: There are a couple of parking lots along Pawtucket Boulevard on the river side. One is adjacent to the band stand area and the other one is on the right after the Rourke Bridge. In addition street parking is also available on the river side of Pawtucket Boulevard. Please arrive early for the best spots.

From the south: Take Rte 3 North, exit #32 take a sharp right at the end of the ramp, Drum Hill Road/Lowell exit.  Burger King will be on the left, continue for 1 & ¼ miles and go over the Rourke Bridge, turn right onto 113 east, go 1 mile & the triathlon is on the right.

From the North: Take Rte. 3 South, Exit # 32, Go around the rotary and take Drum Hill Road/Lowell exit. Then proceed as per the above directions. 

HEADPHONES

Headphones are NOT allowed during the race per USAT Rules (5.8).  This is not a closed course and you need to be aware of your surroundings.

REFRESHMENTS

An impressive refreshment table will be available to all athletes after the event.

Awards go to Olympic & Sprint:

  • Top 3 men overall
  • Top 3 women overall

1st, 2nd, 3rd place men & women in the following age categories:

  • 20-24
  • 25-29
  • 30-34
  • 35-39
  • 40-44
  • 45-49
  • 50-54
  • 55-59
  • 60-64
  • 65-69
  • 70 & Up

Awards will go to first place relay teams:

  • Men
  • Women
  • Mixed

Aquabike awards top 3 in men & women only

CANCELLATION / WEATHER

This is a rain or shine event. Race Director has the right to change the
course or change the event to a Duathlon in case of inclement weather.
